Couch to 5K

The 'Couch to 5K' running group is geared toward new runners.  It is a  10 week training program whose goal is to take a beginning runner, and have that person prepared to compete in a 5K race within 10 weeks.  The next 10 week session starts on Tuesday, April 5.  The total 10 week session costs $100.  Several runners, who were not runners when the January 2011 session started, are now running 3 to 4 miles regularly, and are preapring for their first 5K on April 16 in Calhoun. 

Our local program is led by Autumn Russell and Amber Zambie.  They are both experienced runners who compete in race distances from 5K's (3.1 miles) up to full marathon (26.2 miles).  But don't let that scare you.  They are both kind-hearted, caring individuals who are there to encourage and motivate.

The group will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at
5:30 PM, at Glenwood Wellness Center outdoor track, and then again on Saturday mornings at 7:00 AM.  The group is co-ed.  Any experienced runners who want to show up and help out are also encouraged to come by.
